How To Get Deep Stains Out Of Your Mattress

by Daniel on

The mattress in your home gets stained sometimes – it happens. And when it does happen, removing the stains can be tricky. You may have tried scrubbing and vacuuming all you can, but the mess is too deep for you to truly reach. Here are some more things you can try to finally tackle that stain.

HEPA Strength Vacuum

You might need a powerful vacuum to successfully eliminate the stains in your mattress. HEPA stands for high-efficiency particulate air, meaning these vacuums have been tested to trap minuscule particles that the average vacuum can’t capture.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is very good at absorbing messes. You might want to try sprinkling some baking soda onto your stain and let it sit for half an hour. After time passes, all you need to do is vacuum everything up. The baking soda may have helped absorb whatever was left of the stain.

Vinegar

Vinegar is a little stronger, so ensure your home’s mattress can handle it well. Vinegar is an effective cleaning agent, so blotting some onto your stain could help remove it. It’ll also help deodorize the mess, which is definitely something you need in some cases.

Stain Remover

There are many stain removal products on the market that you could try. Before trying any given product, check the cleaning code on your mattress. Blot a tiny amount of the product on an inconspicuous area to make sure it won’t damage your mattress’s fibers before using it to clean your stain.

Dish Soap

Dish soap is a relatively mild cleaner, but it might be just what you need to clean your mattress stain. If you’re nervous about using something harsh on your mattress, this is a great product to try before moving on to something rougher.

Bleach

Ensure you always dilute bleach in equal parts water before using it on anything. Bleach is effective but potentially dangerous, so be careful whenever you’re cleaning with it. But if you really need something powerful, bleach will probably be worth your time to check out.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is an effective cleaning agent for any kind of deep-set stains you could be dealing with. It also works as an effective deodorizer, much like vinegar. Once again, be careful and spot-test before using hydrogen peroxide.

Enzyme Cleaner

Enzyme cleaners are great at cleaning up organic stains like blood or urine. If the mess you’re looking at is organic, be sure you look into the many different enzyme cleaners on the market. Once again, spot test before committing to any given product to make sure your mattress can actually handle it.

Steam Cleaner

A professional steam cleaning service is a great way to eliminate stain-causing particles deep within the fibers of your bed. Steam cleaners are tricky because they can fill your mattress with too much moisture.

That’s why you should hire a cleaning professional to steam clean your mattress. In general, if you can’t get a stain out, you should absolutely call a professional cleaning service.
